The PSWCD
is a non-profit, political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia
operating primarily on a grant basis with funds from state and local
organizations. Amelia, Nottoway and Prince Edward Counties comprise
the Piedmont District. All three counties contain hydrologic units
which are within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The District realizes
the effects of local water quality on the Chesapeake Bay and strives to
educate citizens about the impacts of soil and water conservation.
Community participation in conserving soil, water and related resources is
encouraged through a variety of programs, with a particular focus on
impacts of non-point source pollution. The PSWCD office is located
in the Prince Edward County Industrial Park in Farmville, Virginia. |

The office maintains steady customer traffic from citizens of all three
counties, seeking information and direction for implementing conservation
practices. |
