"From Dusk Till Dawn"

Rated: R

Starring: Quentin Tarantino, George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, Harvey Keitel

Screenplay: Quentin Tarantino

Directed: Robert Rodriguez

Well, just about everyone in the Western world has now heard of Quentin Tarantino and this is the man responsible for the writing in this film. This is an old script that he had originally sold many years ago and managed to get involved with it again when Rodriguez, an old pal, was asked to direct. Rodriguez said he would only direct if Tarantino himself was involved.

The storyline involves the Gecko brothers played by Tarantino and Clooney who are on the run from the law. One brother broke the other out of prison, then they robbed a bank and kidnapped one of the tellers. When the film opens we watch as they blow up a roadside convenience store after shooting a Texas Ranger and the proprietor. Later, they encounter a family consisting a doubting preacher and his two children. The family are on their travels in an RV and the Gecko's kidnap them to aid in getting over the Mexican border. The final venue is a topless biker/trucker bar known as The Titty Twister and things really heat up when the employees of the bar reveal their true natures.

The best way to experience this film is to treat it like a roller coaster ride. Strap yourself in, settle down and enjoy the ride. This is B-Movie heaven and I'm (fairly) sure Roger Corman himself would have been proud to have been involved in such a flick. Don't think too much about what it all means or what the message of this film is because, quite simply, there is none. Laugh at the jokes, be impressed by the witticisms and the drop dead lines and try to ignore some of the plot inconsistencies because they really don't matter. This film is not for those of a delicate nature or weak disposition but if you like it rough and ready then be prepared for a fun time!
