The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts
Each year the LCVA presents over twenty exhibitions drawn from both its own collections and from other sources. General exhibitions are used to support educational activities at Longwood and at regional schools. Special exhibitions are used to promote Virginia artists and to support faculty initiatives and special campus-wide interpretive themes of an inter-disciplinary nature. The LCVA contributes to number community programs including two outreach programs with the Prince Edward County Schools, the Art Print and Art for Students-at-Risk programs. In addition to lectures and workshops related to special exhibitions, the center presents a monthly Art for Lunch series of talks and has an active tour program. The LCVA is host to a year-round Community Art School that presents a wide variety of classes for children and adults. The annual Children's Earth Day Arts Festival and Community Achievements in the Arts Awards are projects of the Members Council of the LCVA. For a schedule of upcoming exhibitions and events, or questions concerning gallery hours, membership, and accessibility related to a disability, call 804.395.2206 or visit The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts' website.
