Assignment Three -- Describing a Mechanism

In preparation for this assignment, read chapter 8 in your textbook, "Describing Mechanisms."

Write a general description of one of the following mechanisms or a mechanism used in your field of study. Do not concentrate on a particular brand. Select a nonelectric mechanism that consists of four or five main parts, of which at least three are assemblies. Use graphics wherever possible.

Make sure you follow the organization and format as described in chapter 8. An outline should precede the body of your description.

deadlock bolt skateboard
paper punch hand drill
eggbeater folding stepladder
stethoscope garlic press
drawing compass manual can opener
kerosene lamp a sink trap
auto seat belt auto visor
caulking gun hand powered winch
meat grinder sponge floor mop
gunpowder scale toilet seat
Your extended description should be at least 500 words long. There is no limit on length, but all essays should be concise, informative, and correct. Longer essays that multiply errors simply provide more justification for a poor grade. Microsoft Word will tell you how many words there are in a document.

Study the examples on pages 273-282 of your textbook.
